The technological challenges of driving e-paper displays (EPDs) are significantly greater than for TFT displays due to the temperature-dependent waveforms. Therefore, control cards for different EPD types have been developed: black and white "Pearl" or "Carta", three-, four-color or even full-color "Gallery Plus".

A flat and slim design of the cards allows economical mechanical solutions and a common external interfaces (SPI and USB) facilitate communication with the host. The T-CON chips used on the cards support the original waveforms of the E Ink displays and therefore ensure the best image quality in the corresponding operating temperature range.
