The world of displays has continued to evolve in recent years, particularly due to advances in e-paper technology. At Beck Elektronik, we have been working closely with the pioneer of this technology, E Ink Corporation, for a decade. E-paper technologies have evolved from their beginnings with small segmented displays to large formats and matrix substrates. In the process, monochrome solutions have been transformed into impressive full-color displays.
This year, we are proud to announce the upcoming mass production of the latest generation of Spectra 6 full-color displays, covering diagonals of 13.3", 25.3" and 31.5". These displays are characterized by their support of the QSPI interface, which simplifies control and saves costs as no external control board is required.
The versatile black and white solutions have found their place in various applications such as advertising or information screens, traffic information and art design or photo frames. Their performance quality is close to the printed images and the refresh time is less than 1 second, even for large formats such as 31.2 inches.
To meet the requirements of different applications, we have added protective glass, front light and touch sensors to our e-paper screens. While bonding has become common for 13.3-inch diagonals, it is not yet widespread for larger formats due to technological limitations and a lack of materials. However, bonding solutions for 31.2" and 42" EPDs and front light integration up to a size of 25.3" are currently feasible.
By combining segmented EPDs and digital printing, we have created customized solutions, such as the Ink-In-Motion technology. This enables animated images in sizes up to 600x400mm, which arouse customer interest through movement on the supermarket shelf. This technology helps to draw more attention to the advertised products and complement marketing campaigns.
