E Ink continues working at the color solutions of ePaper displays. The color filter array is the easiest way to bring color to the paper but not always the best one for the brilliant color performance. That is why E Ink presents a new color panel on the base of the Advanced Color ePaper (ACeP™) film.

New Color Generation from E Ink: AC057TC1
The first available display using this technology has a size of 5.65” and a resolution of 600x448 pixels. AC057TC1, also known as AB1024-EGA, can produce color for each pixel that is displayed on the screen. The number of colors is limited by 7: red, blue, yellow, green, orange, black and white. All colors are exactly defined by hex-codes that is why the preprocessing of the display’s content is required. The correct content is already half of the success.
With the HULK EPD controller, available for samples, it takes around 25 seconds to get the whole picture updated. For communication goals the display supports the standard SPI interface. It facilitates the integration of the display into the driving and controlling systems. The operating temperature of +15°C to +35°C makes the display suitable for indoor applications.
The 5.65” color EPD is available with driving kit for easy update of the pictures by a windows-application over USB interface. It is a good possibility to get a first impression of the technology.
